  • Required Minimum Distribution Rules For 2020

Lately, we have been receiving calls from clients inquiring about their Required Minimum Distribution, or "RMD", for 2020. As a reminder, the CARES Act, passed in March, eliminated the requirement to take an RMD in 2020. If you choose not to take a distribution, your RMD will not be doubled next year as a result. In contrast, you are still able to take a distribution if you need to, but it isn't required. If you have any additional questions about this topic, please give us a call at 615.370.4040 or reply to this email. We'd be happy to help.

  • Congress Passes New Stimulus Bill

On Sunday, lawmakers agreed on a $900 billion stimulus bill that will be tied to a $1.4 trillion spending bill. The spending bill will fund the government through September 30th, 2020. While the bill is over 5,000 pages in length, initial reports are that an extension in unemployment benefits and the Paycheck Protection Program are included in the bill, as well as another round of direct payments to most Americans. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
