United Airlines To Purchase Aircrafts From Boom Supersonic
On Thursday, United Airlines and Boom Supersonic announced the carrier has agreed to purchase 15 supersonic aircrafts from the plane manufacturer, with an option to increase the order to 50 jets. According to The Verge, if the planes pass inspection, the plan is for them to be rolled out in 2025, fly in 2026, and carry passengers by 2029. By then, Boom claims its jets will be able to travel from New York to London in just 3.5 hours. There hasn't been a supersonic commercial jet in operation since Concorde, which was retired in 2003. Job Creation Accelerated In May
On Friday, the Labor Department reported nonfarm payrolls were up 559,000 in May but were shy of the expectation: 671,000. The unemployment rate fell to 5.8%, which beat estimates. According to CNBC, an alternative measure of unemployment that includes discouraged workers and those holding part-time jobs for economic reasons edged lower to 10.2%.
